MT5 license requirements: the complete 10-document checklist
This is what MetaQuotes asks a company to provide when it applies for a MetaTrader 5 license. We explain each item and how to get it right the first time.

MetaQuotes asks MT5 applicants for ten items: Certificate of Incorporation, Good Standing or Incumbency, Register of Directors, Register of Shareholders (UBOs), proof of registered address, proof of physical address, domain ownership and a compliant website, a document confirming trading activities, a corporate bank reference letter, and SumSub verification.
Before the documents
Three conditions every applicant must meet
MT5 only
MetaQuotes now sells MetaTrader 5 licenses only. New MetaTrader 4 licenses are not available.
The right company activity
Your company must be set up for trading of financial instruments, online forex services/trading, or brokerage and financial services. MetaQuotes recommends a legal opinion for the jurisdiction you choose.
Upfront license fee
The first payment on a new license covers three months of the license fee, so budget for it before you apply.
The checklist
The 10 documents MetaQuotes asks for
Items 1–6 and 8 are corporate documents that we prepare with our Saint Lucia partners. Items 7, 9 and 10 need your input, and we guide you through each one.
Requirements are set by MetaQuotes and may change or be extended during review. This page summarises the list applicants currently receive.
- Certificate of IncorporationThe original certificate issued when the company was registered.
- Certificate of Good Standing or IncumbencyRecent proof that the company is in good standing. This applies if the company is older than six months.
- Register of DirectorsThe directors and, where the board structure is complex, the authorised signatories.
- Register of Shareholders (UBOs)A list of shareholders. If there is a nominee shareholder or a complex ownership chain, supporting documents must show who the beneficial owner is.
- Proof of registered addressAny corporate document stating the company’s registered address.
- Proof of physical addressProof of the real operating address: a recent utility bill in the company’s name, a corporate document stating the business address, or a certified confirmation letter issued by officials, a law firm or an accounting firm.
- Domain ownership + operational websiteProof that the company owns the website to be displayed in the MetaTrader terminal (invoice, provider certificate or account screenshot). The site must be secure, live and transparent (see below).
- Document confirming relevant activitiesProof that the company may lawfully offer trading services, usually its Memorandum. If the objects are missing or too general, a representation letter or legal opinion from a local lawyer or agent is accepted.
- Corporate bank account confirmationA bank reference letter addressed to MetaQuotes. If that is not available, a certified bank statement may be considered.
- SumSub verificationThe authorised signatory and the UBO complete online identity verification through MetaQuotes’ SumSub link. Minority shareholders do not need to.

Many applications stall on the website alone. MetaQuotes expects a secure (HTTPS), fully operational site that clearly displays:

MetaTrader 5 license tiers
MetaQuotes offers MT5 platform licenses in tiers based on the number of real trading accounts. The license fee is paid monthly, and the first payment covers three months.

Requirements FAQ
My company is new. Do I need a Certificate of Good Standing?
MetaQuotes asks for recent proof of good standing where the company is older than six months. For a newly incorporated company, the Certificate of Incorporation and a Certificate of Incumbency usually cover this point.
Is the registered agent’s address enough as a physical address?
No. MetaQuotes distinguishes between the registered address and the real operating address. You need separate proof of the physical address, such as a utility bill, a corporate document or a certified confirmation letter. We arrange this through office services in Saint Lucia.
What if I don’t have a corporate bank account yet?
MetaQuotes asks for a bank reference letter (or a certified statement). If you plan to operate through a payment service provider, a certified PSP confirmation letter can help. We offer both bank account opening assistance and PSP letters.
Can I use nominee shareholders?
Yes, but MetaQuotes will ask for supporting documents that identify the real beneficial owner, and the UBO completes SumSub verification personally. Nominees protect privacy from the public, not from MetaQuotes.
Does my Memorandum need to mention forex?
It helps a lot. We incorporate with objects covering online forex trading, brokerage and financial services. If an existing company’s objects are too general, a legal opinion or representation letter from Saint Lucia counsel fills the gap.
